COLONIAL

Warning: Over the next couple of weeks, this blog is going to peppered with elephants, giraffes and camels as I sift through my photos from my African Endeavour. The only words to describe my 4 weeks spent between S.A, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Egypt are WOW. LOVE and bloody breathtaking.

SAVAGE SAVAGE GLITTER

Alas, Alack.
My whirlygig powderpuff mind eludes me.
I need your creative consultation.

Next friday it's my birthday party. I need a theme which encapsulates everything I love about dressing up.
I'm thinking glitter glitter glitter. I'm thinking gypsy queens, feather headresses, pastel hairdos, facial jewellry and belly-dancing skirts. I'm thinking stars and moons and sequins, boys in Ziggy Stardust make-up and Meadham Kirchhoff fantasy brides...

The essences are there, I just need a NAME FOR THIS GAME.

What should be my theme?

Please leave suggestions...the more preposterous the better...

Photographed by my Dad on the Nile Adventurer, with an Egyptian tablecloth on my head. Why, Audrey Hepburn wore a curtain as a cocktail dress after all...

HOME

I'm back!

A little later than I hoped, but while the ' volcanic ash' hysteria closed some doors, it opened others (namely Paris and Milan, so I can"t complain.)

I hadn't been to Paris since I was all of 8 years old, despite it being a mere deux heures away by Eurostar... quel horreur! I was desperately excited to go to the Louvre for the first time, but LO AND BLOODY BEHOLD... it's closed on tuesdays. I had to reconcile myself with a trip through the Tuleries gardens, which were teeming with the world and his impeccably turned out wife, frolicking in the spring sunshine, and then an attempted innocent look down the Rue St. Honore. I popped into Colette, which I have been reading about for years as the hip-as-hell emporium of french 'it-ness', but it really wasn't as jazzy as I had expected. There current exhibition is called Music Loves You and features prints taken at music festivals by Lenny Kravitz, Beck and Poppy de Villeneuve, among others. The photographs of sweaty, ecstatic crowds and festival goers were selling for up to €800, but to me, they were just party photos, like the ones I take of my friends and sometimes post on this blog. Wish I could sell mine for the same!

I DREAM IN GREEN

Greetings from a sultry Cairo dawn, where I'm posting this from my balcony overlooking the Nile...

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Thank you to all my patient readers and followers for staying faithful while I go galivanting round the African continent. A plethora of photographs to share with you all, and I promise to return to a full schedule of serious & productive blogging once I'm back in the UK.

Wish I could remember where I found these shots. There is something mesmerising about the colour balance in the shot above, non? Vintage YSL vibes...
