PRETTY LITTLE THINGS

Photobucket
Alexander McQueen clutch bag - 21st birthday present from my Mum
Photobucket
Extremely extremely limited edition book - Grace Coddington's finest editorials for Vogue. Homemade elderflower champagne brewed for my 21st by a family friend.
Photobucket
One of my favourite Helmut Newton shoots (I first saw it blown up full size at a Newton retrospective in Berlin several years ago) features Grace herself
Photobucket
Antique birdcage which has spent many years greedily taking up space in my small bedroom.
Photobucket
The complete book of Fortune, found in a basement bookshop in Edinburgh's Old Town. Turquoise pendant necklace was given to me by one of my greatest friends for my 21st birthday. It has a secret compartment for forbidden treasures.
Photobucket
Incense sticks, my Great-Grandfather Thomas Roy's satchel, and book Bazaar Style - perfect for justifying my chaotic interior styling.
Photobucket
A selection of books given to me for my birthday, including Vogue Style published in 1979, documenting British Vogue from 1910-1978. Silk kimono from Topshop (I know, right?)
Photobucket
Silver tea set found in a skip - three hours on the silver polish and these fellows came up smiling.

SUPER SEVENTIES

I'm re-reading The Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake, the account that charts Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent's rising stars in the late 60s and 70s in Paris, the antics of their muses and their notorious parties. It has recaptured my love for decadent 70s all over again, and now that I'm going to a midnight in Morocco party tomorrow night, I'm wholeheartedly embracing Loulou de la Falaise's exotic look. Over Paris Fashion week, Audrey, Maria and I went to the YSL retrospective at the Fondation Pierre Bergé, and Audrey and I were intoxicated by the display of seventies YSL jewellry inspired by, and most likely sourced in Morocco. Huge silver plated bangles with turquoise and amber stones, tribal neck plates and glorious rings. Unfortunately we couldn't take any photos but the designs will stay in my head forever.

Kate Moss by Alasdair McLellan
i-D Winter 2010 The Back to The Future Issue

I dreamt last night I got chatting to Kate Moss backstage at Glastonbury. Then I started reading back issues of i-D in tribute to a great friend who just got a job there, saw this editorial and decided that this is how I am going to dress at the festival this year.
Fishnets, sheepskin and ideally, those sunglasses.
