WISHFUL FASHION WEEK THINKING
A VOGUE UK EDITORIAL INSPIRED BY BLOGGERS. I DON'T KNOW MANY ANY BLOGGERS PERSONALLY WHO GET TO CAMP OUT IN LUXURY HOTELS, EAT BREAKFAST IN BED AND SELECT FROM 'HOT-FROM-THE-CATWALK PIECES' EVERY MORNING DURING THE INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEKS, BUT ONC CAN DARE TO DREAM. FASHION IS AT ITS BEST IN FANTASY, AFTER ALL. I'VE BEEN DOING FASHION WEEK FOR THREE YEARS NOW AND IT'S STILL VERY MUCH A COMMUNAL EXPERIENCE. FOUR TO A ROOM, 2 ON THE COUCH AND ONE ON THE FLOOR, SLEEPING WRAPPED IN A FUR WEARING ODD SHOES AND HALF-INSIDE YOUR FRIEND'S SUITCASE, WAKING UP SPOONING A PIZZA BOX. THEN THERE HAVE BEEN THE NIGHTS I'VE ESCHEWED THE GROUP CAMP FOR A NEW ADVENTURE ; NOTABLY THE TIME ONE YEAR AT LFW WHEN I WOKE UP IN CAMBERWELL ART SCHOOL STUDENT HALLS. OR ANOTHER TIME, IN A 25 ROOMED ARTISTS' WAREHOUSE IN NORTH HACKNEY. OR IN A PARKED CAR IN DEVON. NEEDLESS TO SAY, DESPITE SUFFERING A 100 POUND TRAIN TICKET, I WAS BACK AT SOMERSET HOUSE FOR 2PM.

COLOUR BLOCKING
BRITISH VOGUE FEBRUARY 2011
IF I EVER NEED MOTIVATION TO GO TO ANOTHER 8AM YOGA CLASS, IT'S THAT SHOT OF FREJA'S SENSATIONAL ABS I WILL GO STRAIGHT TO.
AND, HERE'S SOME WISHFUL THINKING, I WONDER HOW MANY MORE 8AM YOGA CLASSES IT'LL TAKE FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO ROCK THE NEW CROP-SUIT?

\\\ MY LITTLE PIECE OF VOGUE ///
Vogue UK April 2004 Cover Shoot
This time last year I was working in the fashion department at Vogue. A whole month of hard work, ringing phones, countless trips to Tony's and small, private heart attacks. A whole month of fascination, inspiration and clumsily-concealed fear whenever Alexandra Shulman walked into your lift. My favourite jobs of all were the ones when I was sent down to the Conde Nast archives to research shoot ideas for one of the fashion editors. Many moons since I have dreamt of one day being once again allowed to enter those hallowed halls of wonder. No such glamorous happenings this summer unfortunately, by no fault but mine own of course. I am instead spending this summer archiving my own 'magazine'; the twenty years of my life in loose pages. I have been battling thousands of photographs, tickets from the Budapest metro from years ago, hundreds of magazine tears which have graced my walls in four different bedrooms of mine over the last 18months... I'm a picture-person, a book-person, a goddamn hoarder if I'm being frank. Bags of old favourites have been lugged across town in the name of charity (I even crossed the road with a girl wearing one of my cast-offs the other day; I didn't mention it.)Above are a collection of lost treasures which I picked up at Vogue during the august office clear-out. These polaroids from April 2004's cover shoot featuring Lily Cole and Gemma Ward were doomed for the bin, but I couldn't let them go. In my eyes, they're a little piece of fashion history (besides, how much would you pay for Kate Moss Vogue polaroids from back in the day on ebay?) I'm not going to ebay them, but hoard them along with everything else. And maybe in twenty years time, I can return them to the Conde Nast archives, and I'll walk those hallowed halls again.
Scans my own, please credit

\\\BRIT VOGUE///
I rarely post anything from British Vogue, not that it doesn't inspire me of course, but I did dig up these from two of last year's issues and felt I had to share. Isn't that jumpsuit AMAZING ?

Fringe Fantastic
Lily Donaldson's March shoot for Vogue with Nick Knight sticks in my mind...so dynamic, electric...a bit of fringe goes a long way to make a damn good picture. So I was head over heels with excitement when I found this fringed cardigan in H&M, the first piece I've bought from there in a long time, and it's now my party staple.
Shimmy shimmy indeed!

It's A Jungle Out There
Just stumbled across Street Peeper's genius roaring gorilla and croc Christopher Kane montage assembled from fans (including Vogue's Sarah Harris) he snapped at LFW. Hilarity!

FNO Shots: What We Saw...
What We Saw...
Some of my shots from the night; I'm afraid they're not the best, as I was minus flashgun...explains the blur. My fellow blogger L of LolitaLoves and local fashionista A took to Bond Street on thursday night for Vogue's Fashion's Night Out, clocking up Topshop, Armani, Burberry, YSL, Chanel, MaxMara and Longchamp. Top spot of the evening had t be watching poseur-extraordinaire Laura Bailey in sequins and ruffs and a smouldering Daisy Lowe teasing the camera upstairs in the Chanel boutique...black tights a gogo!
W1 was teeming with well-heeled fashion queens...the late-night delivery men had their eyes out on stalks!... Whereas I was sporting a more bedraggled "dragged through the central line + luggage backwards' look, much more 'pap' than 'poseur'.

Our tired feet sought solace and that resting place was Nobu in Berkely Square with 3 more well-heeled friends. Whether it was a result of mixing my pimms and champagne, or from sitting at the top table in my cut-offs, I couldn't resist the temptation to take this opportunity to pull faces at Callum Best. God, you can't take me anywhere.

Fashion's Night Out London
"Organising the global Fashion's Night Out Vogue celebration has been a little like planning a UN convention or a royal wedding without name tags.."-Emily Zak, Vogue Retail Editor
Tomorrow night, myself and fellow blogger and fashion intern-extraordinaire Lola of LolitaLoves will be pounding the pavements of W1, cameras in tow, for London's leg of Fashion's Night Out...a Vogue production!
Potential action plan for the evening;
Kick off with champagne and canapes at Topshop where you can buy your t-shirt (designed by vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers); then head to Browns, where a plethora of fashion fitties will take over the store, manning tills, helping out in the fitting rooms, DJing, etc. Rumoured designers include Roksanda Illincic, Jonathan Saunders, Henry Holland and Wiliam Tempest; Chanel's Old Bond St boutique will play host to a live Vogue fashion shoot with Kate Phelan and Daisy Lowe between 7-9pm; On Oxford Street, M&S are hosting 4 catwalk shows throughout the evening to the tune of Little Boots, while there will be more 'celebrity DJs at H&M, as well as a chance to win Jimmy Choo for H&M goodies; Liberty's is getting well into the spirit with a series of workshops over several floors; and if you have time, make an effort to get to Dior on Sloane Street, where customers will be able to star in their own photoshoots, modelling the A/W collections.
Over 200 shops and boutiques across London are taking part, see Vogue for more info.
See you out shopping!

Moss Property
I found this masterpiece of a jacket in the back of the Vogue fashion cupboard, custom-made for the Kate Moss shoot in last October's issue. Unfortunately, it never made the cut. I hope it gets a new home soon.
