I'm re-reading The Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake, the account that charts Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent's rising stars in the late 60s and 70s in Paris, the antics of their muses and their notorious parties. It has recaptured my love for decadent 70s all over again, and now that I'm going to a midnight in Morocco party tomorrow night, I'm wholeheartedly embracing Loulou de la Falaise's exotic look. Over Paris Fashion week, Audrey, Maria and I went to the YSL retrospective at the Fondation Pierre Bergé, and Audrey and I were intoxicated by the display of seventies YSL jewellry inspired by, and most likely sourced in Morocco. Huge silver plated bangles with turquoise and amber stones, tribal neck plates and glorious rings. Unfortunately we couldn't take any photos but the designs will stay in my head forever.

If this is my most favorite year of aesthetic time, then this must be my most favorite new-to-me night of a life time.
Cheers!
we were supposed to live in this era, imogen...i am sure of it. ahh i hate the 2000z, they SUCK :) xxxx
Wow what a beautiful article! everything has changed so much since then. Money has both made and broke the fashion industry.
I seriously think I was born in the wrong era, since most of the clothes I own are either vintage 70s piece or 70s inspired. I always tell my mum I'll never forgive her for not saving all of her old suede fringed waistcoats and platforms!
Its my fave book, I looooove it :)
