I always have faith in the London fashion contingent in putting on a good show, and our take-over of Cirque de Bonheur in Paris to celebrate the launch of Georgia Hardinge's online store was no exception.
Cirque is an amazing club; we were treated to acrobats, a woman-and-parrot gymnastic duo, a giant blue plastic camel who got a fair bit of lip service, and our absolute favourite - the secret bubble-blowing mini disco in a cave under the stairs which played awesome rock & roll tunes. Maria, Audrey and I ditched the fishbowls of vodka mixed with champagne that we were being proferred by gentleman of the Very Important Wallet section in favour of baby beers and mingling with the very diverse crowd on the dancefloor. And of course it was a pleasure to meet new London favourites Charlie and Naomi.

FIRST LOMOGRAPHY

Photobucket
My first lomography film using my Blackbird camera was completely experimental, namely because I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. It is impossible to focus the lens, and the viewfinder is both upside down and works using a mirror so it's more of a guessing game than anything. Still, I do find the saturated colours beautiful, and I suppose that as with everything, practice makes perfect...

STYLE NOTES : THE CHANEL CROWD

Photobucket

The Chanel show crowd are certainly a dedicated bunch. In a uniform of leather, tweed, fur and of course, any interpretation of the classic 2.55 bag, wearing your admiration on your sleeve to the Grand Palais seems to be as important as your firm grip on the ticket itself.

A/W 11 JAMES LONG AT FASHION EAST

Photobucket

James Long's Spring/Summer menswear collection was one of my favourites of the entire last season, and unsurprisingly, adoring female fans like myself inspired him to launch a womenswear line. With knitwear still the central focus, it was the movement in his tasselled dresses and ponchos which caught everyone's eye. Fusing British Arran knit heritage textures with an almost South American aesthetic, from chunky alpacha ponchos to a red Brazilian samba mini, this was hippie ultra-luxe. Skinny leather pants added some Patti Smith to the Stevie Nicks, affirming that there is more to the James Long girl than      following the bohemian folk trend. Simultaneously slinky, cool and irresistibly cosy, this is an incredibly photogenic collection which I predict will pop up in a lot of editorials over the following months.

EIGHT + FRASSY : WHAT WE WORE III

Chanel at the Grand Palais, Paris

Photobucket

There was all sorts of nonsense going on outside the Grand Palais before the Chanel show. A group of french students had lined the width of the steps holding anti-Galliano posters stating 'Gallianot' and 'I don't heart Hitler.' To me that appeared as an ignorant judgement on their part, picketing a high profile fashion event as if to assume that from the actions of one man an entire industry is guilty. Not to mention that Karl Lagerfeld was the first person to speak out about the utter intolerance of Galliano's behaviour. I don't know what the students were hoping to achieve, but in my eyes, to criticise Galliano outside Chanel, and protest against an issue which nobody else supports anyway, seemed completely irrelevant. At the foot of the steps, there was something even more perplexing going on, involving a vehement asian woman, an installation involving Chanel carrier bags and red painted hearts, and a giant balloon. There was no messing with this lady, who, if she wasn't screaming at her assistants, was screaming at the event security, even from inside her balloon. Nobody could quite work out what all of this was in the name of, but it certainly kept the crowd entertained as they waited for the show!
