Chloe Sevigny covers an unpublished issue of Vice magazine in 1994, published this month to mark the 15th anniversary of the international bible of cool (that I had never heard of until today, which is a horrific testament to my international uncoolness obviously). Chloe is some unknown hipster about to debut in Kids, some guy called Terry Richardson has some shots in it, as well as an article about a new tech-trend called 'the internet.' It may not have the same historic importance to many of us (I was 4 years old when the editors accidentally let this slide into the wastepaper basket) as those 70s kids, but there is really nothing more exciting than digging up some nostalgia, whether you remember it or otherwise!
Finally managed to get my hands on a pair of vintage Doc Marten's for a complete snip in Leeds, and they were the comfiest dancing shoes I had ever worn...perfect for last night's sweaty warehouse party, from where we emerged this morning ankle-deep in mud. Good old Docs!
Just stumbled across the sheer genius that is this shot for Canadian mag Flair. When I have more time, ie. not any more bloody critical essays or 700 page books to read, my friend Jess and I are permanent-ly marking that headress-making session we pencilled in ages ago. I already have heaps of beading wire, black lace and feathers stockpiled, and This is guaranteed to be an inspiration. I will model them at a later date, fo sho, but I'm not guaranteeing any topless shots.
I saw a couple of the samples of the Jimmy Choo collection for H&M back in August when I was working at Vogue, but didn't want to blog about the shoes incase I got nabbed for leaking industry secrets. However, now the ads are all out, I'm feeling pretty safe. The ponyskin stilettos (£79.99 I believe) in zebra print are gorgeous in the flesh, and I may try to snap them up along with the matching clutch when they hit stores on Nov 14th. The woven leather ones on the other hand are pretty disappointing in terms of quality. I'm interested to know if the over-the-knee leather boots Sasha's anonymous friend is wearing in the top picture are going to be sold too...only time will tell!
I wish i had the audacity to wear a rumpled boy's sweater, knickers and over-the-knees, and with such aplomb too. Oh Julia, tickler of a thousand fancies...we salute you.
Yes, i have been rediscovering my thesaurus today.
I can't wait to see his new book, Mario de Janeiro Testino, showcasing his collaborations with Gisele in Brazil over the last few years, steamy as the mist over Copacabana beach. She says of the photographer:
"Mario holds a special place in my heart. He has been there with me from the beginning...I think he understands what I want...He is Peruvian by blood, but I think his heart is Brazilian."
Lily Donaldson's March shoot for Vogue with Nick Knight sticks in my mind...so dynamic, electric...a bit of fringe goes a long way to make a damn good picture. So I was head over heels with excitement when I found this fringed cardigan in H&M, the first piece I've bought from there in a long time, and it's now my party staple.
Anna Dello Russo photographed in her suite at the Paris Ritz over fashion week by Garance Dore. She fits right in with the rococo interior in her gold Marie-Antoinette dresses and shoes. The woman is a bird of fashion paradise.
Now I normally show disdain for the celebrity-daughter brigade, but this girl is truly something. She has been modelling for over a year, and I feel that Vogue cover was deserved.
