I'm not an Elle girl, Vogue being the only British mainstream fashion magazine my budget will stretch to, but when I heard that October's issue was to be a London Fashion Week 25th Anniversary special, I forked out another £3.60. And boy was it worth it. The special special edition cover (the simply special one is the Lily Allen subscriber edition) is graced by an iconic British Blonde revered for their effortless disshelved style...yes, it's Boris Johnson. Everyone's favourite mayor also penned the editors letter this month. Unfortunately, only fashion VIPs will get their hands on Boris, while the rest of us will have to do with Lily. Who, wearing a scruffy blonde wig, looks rather effortlessly disshelved herself.
Inside; Christopher Bailey edits this months Preview, while Pete Doherty is shot by Rankin and debuts his first 'fashion illustrations', interviews with Christopher Kane, John Galliano and Anna Paquin, and Skins actress Kaya Scodelario models the latest leather looks.
I hope to see much more celebration of London and all things cool Britannia in the run-up to LFW, especially the 25 commissioned Art on the Underground posters, which are previewed in the magazine. Here are some more patriotic thoughts for a wednesday evening
