EIGHT + FRASSY : WHAT WE WORE III

Chanel at the Grand Palais, Paris

There was all sorts of nonsense going on outside the Grand Palais before the Chanel show. A group of french students had lined the width of the steps holding anti-Galliano posters stating 'Gallianot' and 'I don't heart Hitler.' To me that appeared as an ignorant judgement on their part, picketing a high profile fashion event as if to assume that from the actions of one man an entire industry is guilty. Not to mention that Karl Lagerfeld was the first person to speak out about the utter intolerance of Galliano's behaviour. I don't know what the students were hoping to achieve, but in my eyes, to criticise Galliano outside Chanel, and protest against an issue which nobody else supports anyway, seemed completely irrelevant. At the foot of the steps, there was something even more perplexing going on, involving a vehement asian woman, an installation involving Chanel carrier bags and red painted hearts, and a giant balloon. There was no messing with this lady, who, if she wasn't screaming at her assistants, was screaming at the event security, even from inside her balloon. Nobody could quite work out what all of this was in the name of, but it certainly kept the crowd entertained as they waited for the show!

I wore Lisa Perry 'Edie' print dress, Topshop coat and leggings and Alexander McQueen sunglasses.

the balloon women, oh my...she was weird but i did like her asian inspired trousers paired with trainers. too cool. AND the chanel shopping bags filled with electrical wares- a bit of an anti-climax when they split open.

miss you roy. xxxx
hemingway's "moveable feast"- good choice.

they shouldn't have protested at chanel or at any place, it was his actions not the fashion industry.
